Validation of acquired experience (VAE) at IAE Paris-Est

The Validation of Acquired Experience (VAE) allows professionals to have their experience officially recognised by obtaining a university qualification (Bachelor’s or Master’s degree), without having to complete a full academic programme. It is designed for anyone looking to advance their career, secure their professional path, or take on a personal challenge.

Why undertake a VAE?

With the VAE, you can:

  • Gain a qualification that reflects your professional experience
  • Have your skills formally recognised and certified
  • Obtain a degree aligned with your current responsibilities
  • Advance your career or support internal/external mobility
  • Strengthen your employability and career security
  • Boost your self-confidence by validating your achievements

How does the VAE process work?

1. Submit an Eligibility File (Dossier de Recevabilité – DDR)

This file assesses whether your experience matches the requirements of the desired qualification.

  • Créteil Campus: applications accepted year-round
  • Marne-la-Vallée Campus: two deadlines annually – 15 May and 15 October

Tip: Take care when preparing your application to maximise your chances of acceptance.

2. Review and Jury Interview

Once your application is accepted:

  • Interview with a VAE jury made up of academic staff and industry professionals
  • Outcome: full or partial validation
    • In case of partial validation, additional training modules may be required

What does a VAE cost?

The VAE process is subject to a fee. Please contact the relevant campus for details.

You may be eligible for funding via the Personal Training Account (CPF).

Personalised support throughout the process

IAE Paris-Est offers tailored guidance at each step:

  • Group information sessions to help you understand the process
  • Individual interviews with specialist advisors to refine your project
